Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev are set to join the PBG Eagles, a team owned by the Punit Balan Group, for the upcoming World Tennis League.
This exciting tournament is scheduled to take place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi from December 21 to 24. For the Pune group, known for their extensive involvement in sports leagues, this marks their tenth venture beyond India, having previously engaged in a diverse range of sports such as handball, table tennis, badminton, cricket, kho kho, and chess.
Now, they’re ready to make a significant splash in the world of tennis. “With some of the world’s exceptional tennis talent already part of our franchise, we are eagerly anticipating a season filled with thrilling action”, said Punit Balan, Chairman, and Managing Director of PBG. The PBG sponsors 60 talented players across the nation in various competitions in addition to the teams in different leagues.
“I am delighted to join this season. I have played several times in the UAE and always enjoy coming back. My aim is to finish the year on a positive note there,” said Medvedev.
The World Tennis League (WTL) is gearing up for an exhilarating season with four competitive teams ready to take the court. Matches in this thrilling league will encompass singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, promising a dynamic tennis experience.
The season’s pinnacle will feature a grand showdown on December 24, where the top two teams will vie for supremacy.
In addition to an exciting roster of tennis talent, including Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, and Stefano Tsitsipas, the WTL is set to elevate the entertainment quotient with concerts headlined by acclaimed global music sensations.
